My fav artists...

Here are my all time favorite artists!

1) Ron Mueck

2) Patricia Piccinini

3) Lisa Lichtenfels

4) Melissa Drapeau

Not sure if you noticed but they're all sculptures of various media, not one painting in the lot. I am amazed at the detail! I'm sure there are many more out there but these are at the top of my list.

Thinking about a new vehicle...

I thought it would be fun to start thinking about what we're going to be driving in the near future. We've owned or leased a station wagon, 2 vans, a 2 door and a 4 door, oh yes and a 5 door....can you tell I'm not really into describing makes and models?

We also owned a motor home C class and a tent trailer. That's getting off topic. We have never owned...get ready...a truck! I know we've never owned an elephant either but it's a very popular vehicle here in cowboy country. If everyone around you is driving a Goliath then it's scary being a David! A little bit of bible talk for those who like that kind of thing.

The Honda Ridgeline is so far our favorite, not too big and not to small we're going to have to worry about the Goliaths out there stomping all over us.

It can't be too big that I won't be able to park it in the hospital parkade.

So I'm off to pick up our Impala that we're driving to Victoria on Saturday. A big change from our little Aveo!

Now if I win the lottery this is what I really want! I'll take the cottage in the background too!

It's hair coloring day, and other stuff...

Nothing wild or bizarre! First Lauren needed her tresses colored black! Not a pleasant chore. My hands, even under gloves, are stained. I did wear a bib, whew! I was never so pleased to not have a mirror handy, otherwise she could see her ears, forehead, neck and upper back flecked with dark blue black...permanent...color, better not to be too close when she starts her screaming. After hearing the "Mom, what did you do!" I made the suggestion to use WD40 to remove the unsightly mess. This didn't go over well, I did however work great on my hands!

My turn next! I'm going brownish blonde! Yup I'll look just like Supergirl! Can't wait to see the results.

On a more serious note, I've been called to work early. Rather than midnight I'll be going in for 3pm till 11pm. At lease I'll have a normal sleep tonight, and tomorrow I'm renting our car for the Victoria trip. Not leaving till Saturday but Lauren is borrowing our car for her trip to Vancouver tomorrow. Such complication!

I'm getting that, want to do something artistic, mood happening again. Well, nothing this out there, but the fun part of this is doing research on the type of media I want to use etc... I'm a 3d person, meaning sculpture over painting a landscape. I'd like to try Papier Mache on a small scale and make it not look like it's a Kindergarden project just before nap time!

For a long time now I've had a craving to create a large scale sculpture, I know exactly what I will do, but we only live in a small townhouse and space is limited! One day though! I have all my ideas in a book and there they will stay, for now.

Night Shift workers do it at.....night....

I work the night shift at our local hospital. I love it! Not many can do it, so I'm one of a select few in our department who will consider working this shift.

There's a sense of family between the Doctors, nurses, admitting staff, security and housekeeping.

There's a lot of laughter, mainly involving patients. Ambulance crew will bring in coffee for everyone and on a few occasions a group will drop by, just in appreciation of shift workers and give us coffee and donuts...did I mention there's a lot of food, unhealthy food passed around at night?

If you can lose weight on the night shift kudos!

The stories I could tell, of course I would never do this, but it does make me smile whenever I need a good pick me up!

Victoria BC here we come...

With warmer weather and sunshine come thoughts of travel, at least for me it does. So we've planned a trip to Victoria to take in museums, parks and various places of interest. Getting the itch to also check out antiques and collectibles. We'll find most of these on our way back in Langley BC.

This photo to the left is Beacon Hill Park in Victoria, the next
photo is the historic Fort Langley.

Speaking of collectibles I'm really only interested in small collectibles dating to the 1960's. Anything bigger than a double roll of 2ply toilet paper just won't fit in my collectibles area! I'm not one that likes to collect hundreds of salt'n pepper shakers lets say, just one of something is plenty.

I found a photo of a cat just like my Dolce!

Same eyes, so cool!

Move 'em on, head 'em up,
Head 'em up, move 'em out,
Move 'em on, head 'em out Rawhide!
Set 'em out, ride 'em in
Ride 'em in, let 'em out,
Cut 'em out, ride 'em in Rawhide.

We are in cattle country ya know!

Perfumed flower drifts
gently in the warm breeze-
where are you going?

Spring arrives on Hollyburn drive

What a beautiful morning! Sun peeking over the roof tops inviting all to come out and play. When in reality it's freezing out there, the sun was always a tease!

It's a day off for me, at least from my job. The kitchen's a mess, the basement is full of my daughters boxes from her recent move back home. I need to do some low carb baking.

Yes, I'm on Atkins. So far 20 lbs has just melted off me, I've found an excellent bread substitute, as well as some sweet treat recipes. Don't really want to go through another uncomfortable sweaty summer if I can help it.

Tea time!

The beginning and what it all means.

My family would understand what my blog title stands for. My first dog, my first most laziest feline, and my current lovable blue eyed, gold eyed, furry ball of dander. Hmm... no room to post another photo...you will just have to use your imagination! Maybe one day I'll take an actual photo of Dolce (not like these stock images) and post his likeness for all to enjoy.

For now my blog will, shall we say, be a bit of this and that, with a dusting of WTF!

I will also be writing a Haiku each day, isn't that a treat! So here is my first.

Tail wagging wildly
